Parkway’s mini home spell continues this Tuesday evening as Richard Luffman brings his new-look Taunton Town to Bolitho Park for Match Day Seven of the Southern Premier League South.

Chris McPhee’s Parkway will aim to capitalise on home advantage and search for their elusive first league win of the season against the Peacocks, who have their own agenda this season. So far, Parkway have been impressive to watch but have failed to convert their dominance into points. Saturday’s defeat to league leaders Walton & Hersham may have been the hardest pill to swallow yet, as another fine performance left the Yellows empty-handed. Dawid Rogalski proved the difference as the Swans left Devon with all three points. With no time to dwell, Parkway now look ahead to their next test as Taunton set their sights on Bolitho. 

Richard Luffman’s Taunton have had a mixed start to the season, epitomized by their recent 3-3 draw with Hanwell Town. Goals from Archie Ferris, Jacob Hodgson, and Thomas Smith earned a point in a thrilling battle at the Cygnet. This was the Peacocks’ second 3-3 draw of the season, following their opening day result against Gloucester City. Their campaign has also seen defeats to Poole and Hungerford Town, a point against Sholing, and a fine 2-0 win against Frome Town. 

Taunton boasts undoubted talent in their ranks, with Luffman’s summer arrival sparking a reshuffle that includes the spine of Parkway’s Southern League campaign from last season. Former Yellows Adam Parkes, Toby Down, and Saturday’s man of the match Tom Purrington will return to Bolitho Park along with Alfie Moulden for the first time since their departures.

Parkway welcome back midfield engine Callum Hall following his absence on Saturday. However, the impressive Tom Dean and Mitch Beardmore will be unavailable due to commitments with parent club Exeter City. Jack Crago returns to the squad after an impressive loan spell with Helston Athletic. Mikey Williams will be available despite seeing red against Walton and Alex Cairo remains sidelined through injury.

These sides met last season but only in a pre-season friendly with Alex Cairo finding the net in a 1-1 draw at the Cygnet.

Both managers will view this fixture as winnable as their sides continue to adapt to this season’s Southern League challenge. The Peacocks sit 16th with six points, while Parkway are 3rd from bottom with 2 points. Although it’s only match day seven, both clubs will consider this a hugely important fixture.
