Parkway Face Tough Test Against Third-Placed Totton
Parkway v AFC Totton | Match PreviewBy Lewis Retallick
Plymouth Parkway vs AFC Totton
Southern Premier League South
Bolitho Park
Tuesday 15th October
7:45pm Kick-off
Following a disappointing 4-0 defeat to Worthing in the FA Cup on Saturday, Parkway are preparing themselves for Match Day Ten in the Southern Premier League South, where they will face AFC Totton at home.
The Yellows currently sit second from bottom in the table and are five points from safety after nine games played. They do, however, have a game in hand following the postponed match against Wimborne Town. In the relegation zone, Parkway are around teams such as Marlow, Frome Town and Tiverton, while Gloucester City lead the league.
AFC Totton – the opponents – are comfortably in third place, ahead of Walton and Hersham by four points. Totton will be travelling to Bolitho following a 2-0 win against Hanwell Town, with the goals coming from Charlie Austen and Ashley Clarke. They have had a good start in the league, only losing once and racking up 21 points from ten games.
This match could be the one to kickstart the season for Parkway, but Totton won’t make it easy as they will be desperate to keep up with first and second place Gloucester City and Merthyr Town. Although there might be some fatigue following the weekend clash, Parkway has the quality to give Totton a tough battle and they will be hungry to get their first win in the league.
In terms of the head-to-head record, these two teams matched-up twice last season, and Totton took all three points from both games, so Parkway will want to change that and show the opposition what they can do. This match-up is huge for both clubs at both ends of the table, so the game will certainly be a good watch.
