Can The Yellows Continue Their Unbeaten Start to 2025?
Parkway v Swindon Supermarine | Match PreviewBy Lewis Retallick
The Yellows face off against Swindon Supermarine this Saturday at Bolitho, where the lads will be looking to extend their good form further into the new year. Parkway are following on from a 1-0 win against Basingstoke which ended up having some late drama.
It was Callum Hall once again who managed to grab the winner for Plymouth in a game that was always going to be tough. Just when everyone thought the match was going to end 0-0 and the points be shared, Hall nicked it for his side in the 90th minute and Parkway ended up taking home the vital three points.
The Yellows are in good form as of late, with one loss, a draw, and three wins in their last five. Those wins were most impressive though as they came against top teams like Gloucester, Havant & Waterlooville, and most recently the Basingstoke match. They are also still very good in front of goal, having scored nine in their last five games, so hopefully they can continue this against The Marine.
Swindon are not in great form right now, having only one win in their last five matches, which was most recently against Sholing where it ended 5-3 – leaving them in 10th place. Besides that, they have lost three games and got one draw. Like Plymouth, they have also scored nine in the last five, but a key thing to note is how much they have struggled defensively. In the same number of matches, they have conceded 14 goals – not good at all.
The head-to-head record is quite even, with two wins for both sides, and just the one draw between them, which came most recently in November, which ended 2-2.
Hopefully Parkway can keep grabbing points from these important games, and let’s make sure we support them all the way.
This week, news has filtered through that Mitch Beardmore, Ewan Griffiths, Jack Endacott, and Keiron Edworthy would be leaving the club. Recruitment plans are currently in place as the management look to bring in reinforcements at a critical stage of the season. Frankie Monk and Joe Wragg remain long term absentees due to injury. Andrew Sowden Bird will take the GK jersey ahead of the Swindon fixture.
