Saturday 18th January
3pm Kick-off
Parkway are travelling to face bottom of the league Marlow on Saturday at the Alfred Davis Memorial Ground. The Yellows are following on from a frustrating 3-3 draw against Bracknell which was packed full of drama.
It started quickly as Callum Hall bagged himself another goal in the 5th minute of the game, which was an absolute screamer, giving McPhee’s men an early 1-0 lead. Five minutes later the scoreline changed to 2-0 with a goal from Dylan Jones – it seemed nothing could go wrong from here on out…
Debut goalkeeper Matt Wonnacott then got himself a red card after bringing the attacking Bracknell player down just outside the box, leaving Parkway with 10-men and captain Shane White to take the gloves. Bracknell then make it 2-1, but things looked hopeful as Taylor Scarff made it 3-1 before the break. The visitors then made it 3-2 in the 60th minute and the next 30 minutes seemed to go very slowly. In the last moment of the game, Bracknell made it 3-3, leaving everyone to share the points… and breathe.
The Yellows still sit in 19th place and are still trying to find a way to string together a long run of victories. All-in-all, form is pretty good, with only one loss in their last five, two draws, and two wins – so slowly but surely, it’s getting better. As always, they are great in front of goal, having scored eight in the last five matches. The last couple of games have been interesting in terms of defending their own net, as they have conceded six in those two, so improvements need to be made there.
Opposition Marlow currently sit bottom of the league and have had a very tricky season so far as they have only managed to get four wins, four draws, and have lost 18 of their games. Their recent form isn’t wonderful with only one win in their last five, and that was their most recent game against Tiverton which finished 2-1 and was in fact their first win since November.
There certainly aren’t any easy games in this league, especially when it’s a good old basement battle, but best believe the lads will give it their all.
