Parkway made the sharper start creating a couple of early opportunities. On 3 minutes Dylan Jones went clear on the right firing in angled drive from 25 yards which Tyler Tobin in the visitors’ goal did well to palm away for a corner.
On 6 minutes Matt Wright linked well with Callum Hall whose low shot from around 18 yards went straight to Tobin who saved comfortably low down. Play began to even out with both sides winning corners both of which were easily defended by the respective defences. From Harrow’s first meaningful attack on 16 minutes they were awarded a contentious penalty after Oscar Halls was adjudged to have brought down Nagheeb Ibrahim.
After a lengthy delay and Halls receiving a yellow card, Adam Parkes guessed correctly diving to his right saving well to keep the score at 0-0.
Harrow began to come into the game more with the tricky Reece Mitchell causing problems for the Parkway defence along the left and firing a shot into the side netting on 21 minutes. With neither side able to gain control in midfield, play became scrappy with a series of stoppages for petty fouls and few chances being created.
On 27 minutes Mitchell again went clear with his shot lacking the power or direction to trouble Parkes. On 31 minutes a neat passage of play along the Parkway right between Hall and Shane White forced a corner which was well defended.
Play continued to switch from end to end with defences generally remaining on top and neither keeper being tested. Mitchell was cautioned on 31 minutes for a foul on Mikey Williams with Harrow having a strong shout for a penalty turned down shortly after which appeared to be a more convincing claim than the one given earlier.
Parkway finished the half the stronger with Jack Crago going on a penetrating run down the left and doing well to force a corner which caused a scramble in the 6 yard area with an offside flag eventually halting play. Parkway continued to apply pressure also having a good shout for a penalty turned down. Hall, Wright and Crago then linked well on 40 minutes to force another corner with Harrow remaining solid at the back and clearing the danger.
On 42 minutes Parkway created a half chance with Wright and Garside creating space on the right with Garside’s cross picking out Hall who shot narrowly wide from around 18 yards. Parkway forced another corner on 44 minutes but were still unable to breach the visitors defence with the scores remaining level at the break after a minute of added time.
A scrappy, stop start half lacking any great quality or clear chances from either side with the only major talking points the penalties that were either given or not given.
After an uneventful first few minutes to the 2nd half the visitors took the lead on 49 minutes. A series of misplaced passes and sloppiness in midfield by Parkway eventually gifted possession to Harrow who pushed forward and with Parkway unable to clear their lines Lonit Talla bundled the ball home from close range.
This seemed to unsettle Parkway and inspire Harrow who now became the more dominant side creating further chances. On 54 minutes Parkes did well to smother a through ball just ahead of Talla as Harrow continued to threaten.
Parkway began to look edgy and disjointed and unable to gain or retain possession and they fell further behind on the hour. A long range shot through a crowd of bodies was only parried away by Parkes with Excellence Muhemba stabbing home the loose ball from close range.
With Parkway losing their shape and composure allowing Harrow to control the tempo of the game, a 3rd goal came out of nowhere on 64 minutes. Once again Parkway conceded possession in midfield allowing Jack Tutton to pick up the loose ball and fire a speculative effort from around 30 yards low through a crowd of bodies which may have taken a slight deflection with Parkes unsighted.
Harrow continued to apply pressure with Parkway resorting to long balls in the channels which were comfortably dealt with the visitor’s defence leaving Tobin untested. In an effort to change things and introduce fresh legs Parkway made a double substitution on 67 minutes with Jones and Crago making way for Jack Bray-Evans and Alex Cairo.
With Harrow now content to protect their 3 goal cushion, drop a bit deeper and slow the game down, they made changes on 71 and 75 minutes with Ronny Mfinda replacing Toby Nnadozie and Reece Deakin coming on for Mitchell. With the tempo of the game slowing and Harrow happy to sit on their lead this allowed Parkway to push forward and press higher with Tobin forced into a fine save on 77 minutes, his first of the half. Parkway then had a header flash just wide from the corner as they finally began to create half chances.
Reece Thomson replaced Wright on 78 minutes. Parkway finally had a period of controlled possession with the lively Bray–Evans forcing errors in the Harrow back line and on 80 minutes the pressure paid off with Williams being hacked down in the penalty area for a clear spot kick calmly converted by White.
Harrow made their final change on 86 minutes as they continued to look to manage the game out with Harlem Hale replacing Ibrahim. Parkway continued to work hard in looking to decrease the deficit but remained unable to penetrate the Harrow defence despite forcing Tobin into a smart save on 89 minutes.
With 6 minutes of time added, Parkway continued to push forward but with gaps left at the back it was Harrow who almost got their 4th goal in the 3rd added minute only to be denied by a last ditch goal line clearance leaving the visitors the happier of the sides and going home with a much needed 3 points.
After a fairly even 1st half of few chances with little between the sides, a strangely passive and possibly tiring Parkway allowed Harrow to dominate the early stages of the 2nd half where they were the much stronger and determined side.
They capitalised on periods of poor Parkway play in midfield in a one way 15 minute spell finishing clinically albeit not prettily the chances that came their way and ran out deserved winners in their fight to avoid the drop. Other results on the night resulted in mixed fortunes for Parkway who dropped a place to 16th but remain ahead of 3 other clubs on 42 points on goal difference with the last of those clubs, Sholing, in the final relegation spot.
The last of the 5 consecutive Parkway “home” games follows in 48 hours when they travel the relatively short distance to Southern League Division 1 Exmouth Town’s ground with 3rd placed Salisbury the visitors. Another tough game with all to play for with both sides needing points for different reasons. A win for Salisbury would all but guarantee them a playoff place with Parkway needing the points to climb away from the relegation zone.
