Parkway Capture Signature of Stewart
Ali Stewart is a YellowBy Jack Hobbs
We are delighted to announce the signing of Ali Stewart from Swindon Town!
The central midfielder joins the Yellows from The Robins’ academy where he previously worked under Parkway assistant manager Lee Peacock.
Speaking on his arrival, the 18-year-old said: “I’m really looking forward to my time at Plymouth Parkway and hope I can make a strong impact and help the team.
“Lee Peacock was a big factor in the process, having known him from his time with Swindon Town. I can’t wait to get started!”
Our new arrival, who started in a third round FA Youth Cup tie against QPR back in December, looks to be an exciting addition to the Parkway squad according to Lee Peacock.
The assistant manager said: “Ali came into Swindon quite late but made an impact and was offered a scholarship by the club.”
“However, he is a really intelligent lad and wanted to continue his education so signed an extended schoolboy contract which allowed him to play for the youth team whilst doing his A levels.
“Even though his training was limited he still became a starter due to his in-game reliability in several positions and his outstanding work rate.
“He signed for Swindon as a hard-working striker but converted into a box-to-box goal-scoring midfielder. He can play any role across midfield, as a striker, and has even covered at CB.
“He is a great lad and will fit in well with the boys here. His hard-working attitude and ability will give him a great foundation for a successful transition into men’s football with us.”
The midfielder has even been likened to our own midfield maestro Callum Hall.
“I’ve not seen him play in over a year but if he has continued on the same path then I’d say he’s similar to Callum (Hall)”, said Peacock.
“He’s a box-to-box attacker, he scores goals, assists, and defends really well in own half. Hewas the hardest working players in academy when he was with me.”
We would all like to express our warmest welcome to Ali and we look forward to watching him at Bolitho.
