Parkway return home as Beaconsfield head to PL5
Parkway v Beaconsfield Town | Match PreviewBy Alex Haynes
It’s another quick turnaround for Plymouth Parkway as the lads welcome Beaconsfield Town to Bolitho for a Tuesday night fixture. As the Yellows gear up for the final match of January, a look ahead sees the unrelenting schedule continue throughout the month of February.
Parkway extended their impressive unbeaten run to nine games at the weekend after a hard-earned 0-0 draw with Dorchester Town. Several changes were made to the squad from the win against Hayes & Yeading due to injuries. The team also had to play the majority of the second half with 10 men as Shane White saw red after two yellow cards in quick succession.
The draw keeps Parkway in 14th place with 31 points. They have a whopping eight games in hand over 13th place Basingstoke Town who are currently on 34 points.
Another tough challenge awaits the Yellows on Tuesday evening. Opponents Beaconsfield are unbeaten in three matches against good sides. The Rams were able to secure a 3-2 away win over third-placed Merthyr Town before holding second-placed Salisbury to a 0-0 draw. Last weekend they comfortably overcame Bracknell Town at home 3-0.
Beaconsfield are 17th with 28 points but look to be much improved. Three points for Parkway could see them leapfrog Basingstoke thanks to a much superior goal difference, and a win for the Rams could mean that they climb two places. They have the chance to equal Parkway’s points tally so far, but again, our superior goal difference makes it extremely unlikely that they will go above the Yellows.
Last season, Beaconsfield were victorious at Holloways Park beating Parkway 3-1. At Bolitho, the teams shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw.
