Parkway Youth Round Up
6 - Plymouth Parkway Colts 2 - Chaddlewood Minors
Parkway entertained Chaddlewood Minors looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the season, and they would get off to the perfect start. A mistake by the Minors keeper would see Alfie fire into an empty net. It would get even better for the Yellows 3 minutes later as the opportunist midfielder Jacob would produce a fine lob to extend Parkway’s advantage.
Chaddlewood would react well and with nine minutes on the clock, a superb free kick would reduce the deficit as the game became more competitive.
As in previous games, Parkway reacted superbly to a set back and the trend would continue as Maison Avery found the net with a goal of the season contender. Riley would then produce his own moment of magic and put his name in the hat for goal of the season as a 4-1 scoreline would be established at the break.
Minors would start the second half well and almost pulled a goal back again through a free kick, but Jack in the Parkway goal would save superbly. The game would continue to be played at a fast pace and 14 minutes into the second half, Parkway found a 5th. A powerful run by kit would see the youngster pick out Riley in the middle who finished coolly from 6 yards out.
A 3rd contender for goal of the season would add the icing on the cake for Parkway as Evan with time on the edge of the area, found the top bin with ease as Parkway made it six of the best.
Minors would pull a goal back late on, but the day belonged to Parkway and a magnificent team performance.
6 - Plymouth Parkway Colts 0 - Saltsash United
Parkway moved into the Semi-final of the Kellwik Cup after a fine display over rivals Saltash United and produce a 5th clean sheet in 8 matches.
The performance and result were the perfect response following last weekend’s setback as the Yellows turned in a professional and clinical performance. A slight tweak to the formation would limit Parkway for the first 15 minutes and the decision to revert to type after 15 minutes would pay dividends.
The first 20 minutes could have been a different story if it wasn’t for the intelligence and maturity that keeper Archie Scott is beginning to display on a weekly basis. The shot stopper would make some crucial saves and be a vocal figure throughout the first 20 minutes.
Once Parkway began to find their rhythm, they looked a more assured and dangerous team as Kingsley Potter added the first goal of the afternoon from 20 yards out.
The goal would completely settle Parkway and the confidence would begin to shine, as did Connor McKee. The pacey attacker would go on to a seal a hat-trick, but it was also his hold up and link up play that also caught the eye of supporters.
Further goals were added by the impressive Luke Lee and Reuben Carter as Parkway began to show the quality they possess throughout the squad.
This result would be all the sweeter as 24 hours the squad would be back action as they defeated Chudleigh in the Devon Premier Cup.
A truly breath-taking weekend for the side would see Dennis Daw hit a double and Reuben Carter again find the net as the duo made it a job well done from a weekend of Cup triumph.
0 - St Cleer & Liskeard 6 - Plymouth Parkway
Saturday saw the first of 2 games this weekend for parkway u15’s, a tricky away league fixture to bottom side St Cleer & Liskeard.
Parkway started well going close on several occasions before finally making their pressure tell when Ethan Wright collected the ball well on the edge of the area and fire his shot across the keeper into the far top corner.
It was only a matter of minutes before Wright doubled his tally with a carbon copy of his first to make it 2-0. The game continued to be played in the St Cleer half with Parkway completely dominant but for one chance that Harry Westlake dived low to his left to tip around the post.
This happened to be the only real chance that St Cleer created throughout the 80 minutes and only minutes later Parkway made it 3-0 through Wright to complete his hat trick.
The second half continued in the same vein with Parkway making it 4-0 as Shay McCarthy making his mark on the game after coming on at half time. The substitute fired a low shot at the front post giving the keeper no chance. What followed was another 2 quick fire goals from Ollie Pascoe and finally Shay Millen to complete the scoring and make it 6-0 in another totally dominant performance for Parkway.
After Saturdays free scoring display, Sunday would witness a Devon Cup fixture as Parkway looked to build on Saturday’s win.
Parkway continued where they left off, brimming with confidence, opening the scoring as early as the 10th minute when Jackson Fallon finished a cross from the left from 6 yards. The second followed when Jack Davidson was brought down just outside the area for him to pick himself up and convert the free kick for his first of the day.
Next was the turn of Shay McCarthy who ran with the ball just inside the Moors Youth half before shooting from fully 20 yards into the bottom corner, McCarthy then went on to score the next 2 goals and complete his hat trick, again 2 great finishes to make it 5-0 and complete the first half scoring.
The second half saw the introduction of Fin Clarke and his first touch set him away to add a 6th to the score sheet. Parkway weren’t going to finish there, and Jack Davidson completed his hat trick with 2 thunderbolts that no keeper would stop to make it eight to Parkway and set up an away tie in the next round against Central Youth.
