Parkway Secure Goalkeeper Alex Rutter in Record Transfer

Rutter is a Yellow

Plymouth Parkway are delighted to unveil the signing of goalkeeper Alex Rutter from Salisbury for an undisclosed fee, marking the club’s first-ever paid transfer. The 23-year-old, who began his career at Galway United in Ireland, will go straight into the squad for Saturday’s Southern League clash with Merthyr Town.

Rutter made a strong impression at Bolitho earlier this season during a loan spell with Wimborne Town, turning in a series of outstanding saves against Parkway. Now, he returns to Plymouth on a permanent deal running until the end of the 2025/26 campaign.

“It’s been a priority to bring in a regular keeper after Ewan returned to Cardiff,” said manager Chris McPhee. “With Matt unfortunately breaking his arm, we needed a permanent solution. Luke has been fantastic in stepping up, his penalty heroics last Saturday were exceptional, but securing Alex is a huge boost for us.”

Rutter can’t wait to get started: “I’ve got great memories from when I played here before and was impressed by the quality in the squad that night. When this opportunity came along, it was a no-brainer. The gaffer outlined how the team plays, which really suits me. I’m grateful for the chance and can’t wait to kick on.”

Rutter becomes Parkway’s eighth goalkeeper this season, but manager Macca is convinced the new man will bring much-needed stability. “Alex is hard-working, with safe hands and good distribution. He’s exactly what we need at this crucial stage.”

Chairman Mark Russell hailed the signing as a statement of intent. “We’ve worked hard to bring Alex in and commit him to the club this season and next. We’ve had many different faces in goal this year, so securing a permanent No.1 has been a key priority. We’re thrilled to welcome Alex and look forward to seeing what he can do at Bolitho.”
