Parkway start their 'Last Dance' back at Bolitho

Parkway vs Walton & Hersham | Match Preview

By Mike Parrish

Plymouth Parkway finally return home to Bolitho Park tomorrow for the first time since Easter Monday as they welcome Walton & Hersham to PL5.

The stakes couldn’t be higher for Lee Hobbs’ men following a grueling schedule that has seen the yellows on their travels seven times in the space of seventeen days. The demands on such a small squad have slowly become evident and were highlighted as they traveled to the capital and were soundly beaten by relegation rivals Hanwell Town.

After a defeat to Didcot Town last weekend, the yellows picked up a point away at Poole Town on Tuesday evening that temporarily moved them out of the relegation zone. However, following defeat to Hanwell Town on Thursday evening, Parkway slipped back into the relegation zone, setting up a ‘last dance’ sequence of home matches in this season’s campaign.

The schedule couldn’t be any trickier for the squad who now prepare to welcome Walton & Hersham Town, one of the standout teams of the season, to Bolitho Park this Saturday. This is followed by the visit of AFC Totton, who have already confirmed their place in the playoffs, on Monday evening before relegation-threatened Hayes & Yeading make the trip to PL5 on Wednesday evening.

The focus, for now, shifts to Walton & Hersham, who sit seventh in the table and still have a chance to secure the final playoff spot. Parkway’s young striker Dylan Jones produced arguably the moment of the season in the reverse fixture as his last-minute strike secured three points on the road.

The Swans, who recently parted with their long-standing manager, will travel to Bolitho Park with nothing to lose in their quest for a final playoff spot. Their recent form has been mixed, with recent weeks seeing them pick up a point in an entertaining fixture against Harrow Borough, followed by a 3-0 defeat to AFC Totton. Their form has improved in their last two games, picking up a point on the road against Hendon before getting back to winning ways against Sholing last weekend.

The stage is set for Parkway fans to play their part on Saturday as the Yellows’ long-awaited return home coincides with a pivotal moment not only in this season’s campaign but also in the club’s decorated history.

Join us for part one of the ‘Last Dance’ this Saturday as Parkway eventually return home.
