Full Match Report

Parkway began with a stiff wind at their backs on a chilly evening in West London and forced their first corner on two minutes which came to nothing. A series of Parkway corners followed, six in total in the first 20 minutes.

Crago controlled a long through ball skilfully to beat two defenders and would have been through on goal had he not been penalised for a contentious foot up.

On 10 minutes, a good run by Crago and link up play with Callum Hall forced a corner which resulted in a flick header being punched away under pressure on the line by home keeper Sam Beasant.

On 16 minutes Hanwell threatened for the first time when a low cross from the left was cleared for the hosts first corner. Almost immediately Jacob Bancroft picked up a loose ball and curled a shot from 20 yards just past the far post.

After a bright 20 minutes by Parkway, they began to lose their way, and this was to continue for the remainder of the match.

Daniel Carr on 21 minutes produced a good run from the half-way line but pulled his 20-yard effort just wide of the post.

On 22 minutes, Hanwell went in front after a great run and cross by Gianni Crichlow which fell to Elliot Beynon 10 yards out who swivelled superbly to tuck the ball away.

On 29, Rio Garside put Callum Hall in on the right, but his shot was high and wide.

A scare for Parkway on 42 when Carr and Callum Woodcock linked well from a free kick only to see the latter rattle the crossbar from close range when he should have done better.

There was a further scare in the final minute of the half when Crichlow sent a 20-yard rasping shot just past the left-hand post. Two added minutes went without any further drama.

The 1-0 lead for Hanwell at half-time was a fair reflection of the game.

With Parkway desperate to get something out of the game but having lost their way, Lee Hobbs made two changes at the break with Reece Thomson and Dylan Jones replacing Callum Hall and Jack Bray-Evans.

The second half started quietly without incident until on 54 a cross from Dwayne Duncan slipped through the hands of Parkway keeper Adam Parkes for a corner which resulted in a free header and almighty scramble in the six-yard box before Olayami Oyinsan prodded home for 2-0.

Hanwell were now in complete control with Parkway offering very little and they almost extended their lead when Mathew MacKenzie shot just wide on 58. Two minutes later Jacob Bancroft also shot just wide of the post.

A rare Parkway attack on 61 saw Reece Thomson shoot narrowly wide from 20 yards.

On 65, Alex Cairo replaced Jack Crago.

On 70 minutes a Cameron Sangster free kick was punched away by Beasant. A second Sangster free-kick two minutes later found the head of Thomson but his 12-yard effort was comfortably saved.

Soon after Hanwell made a substitution with Sam Evans replacing Josh Oyinsan. This was followed four minutes later by Jack Hutchinson replacing Jacob Bancroft.

On 78 minutes, good work by Mikey Williams played in Thomson on the edge of the box, but his curling shot fell a yard wide. Wright then replaced Crichlow for the hosts.

On 83 the points were secured for the home side when Parkes in no-mans-land was easily lobbed by Beynon for his brace.

To further compound Parkways’ misery, on 87 a cross from the right was spilled by Parkes low down and Callum Woodcock easily tapped home to complete a comprehensive win for the home team who will now feel they can escape the drop. There was no further incident in the four added minutes.

With Tiverton also winning, Parkway drop two places and into the relegation zone. They are two points from safety with one or two games in hand on all the five teams just above them. Three home games follow now starting with Walton & Hersham on Saturday, a team who have been promoted in each of the past three seasons but appear set to just miss out on a play-off place this season. Fellow strugglers Hayes & Yeading visit Bolitho on Monday and then promotion chasing AFC Totton on Wednesday.

Parkways’ gruelling schedule looks like it had caught up with them tonight and it will be very difficult to raise their game for the run-in, but I am sure they will give their very best. They can certainly do with as many fans as possible to pack the park on Saturday.
